    Abstract

The partial and total photoionization cross sections for 2p sub-shell ionization of fluorine are calculated near the first ionization threshold 2s(2)2p(4)(P-3). The electron correlation and polarization effects which are very important for both initial ground, the final ionic states and the final continuum states are taken into account using the multiconfiguration Hartree-Fock method for bound and continuum wave functions. The three series of autoionization resonances observed by experiment between the P-3-D-1 threshold, are identified accurately by the theoretical calculation. The calculated energy positions of the autoionization resonances 2p(4)(D-1)ns D-2, 2p(4)(D-1)md P-2 and 2p(4)(D-1)md D-2 are compared with experimental measurements and are found to be in excellent agreement.
