    Abstract

This article considers my work as a Central Florida folklorist and digital media scholar with Lilly Carrasquillo, a Central Florida artist from Puerto Rico. The article is intended to raise two questions that may be of interest to scholars of Puerto Rico and in particular the diaspora: What might be the role, if any, for folklorists and cultural anthropologists to use digital media to present increasingly complex hybrid and diasporic cultures and identities; and, what are potentials and challenges of adopting a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to negotiate between the sometimes conflicting perspectives of folklorists, local artists, cultural organizations, and arts councils?
