Abstract
The Virtual Design Studio (VDS), under development primarily by Syracuse University (SU), is a software platform currently in support of an integrated, coordinated and optimized design of buildings and their energy and environmental systems. It is designed to assist collaborating architects, engineers and project management team members throughout, from the early phases to detailed building design development. In order to help SU develop VDS, the objective of the FSEC work was to enhance EnergyPlus to perform co-simulations and help SU develop a visual design studio platform. Based on the objective, the following tasks were performed.
