Abstract
Monitoring plans for four homes, one in Gainesville, Florida and three in San Antonio, Texas are detailed here. One home in each location was designed to approach zero energy use on an annual basis with a combination of high performance construction and on-site, grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) arrays offsetting energy consumption. Two other homes, built with identical floor plans to the near-zero energy San Antonio home serve as a controls. One is built to minimum code and one is a high performance home without PV.
