My service-learning project took place at Give Kids the World Village, a nonprofit resort in Kissimmee, Florida that provides cost-free vacations for children with critical illnesses and their families. Throughout the semester, I volunteered by working as a delivery driver, attractions operator, park attendant, and a café busboy. These experiences allowed me to interact directly with families, staff, and other volunteers, witnessing how small acts of kindness can have a powerful emotional impact. The time I spent working in each area brought new skills and challenges, with each highlighting the value of empathy, teamwork, and service leadership required to perform well. Over the time I spent serving, I gained new skills and experience while connecting my classroom learning to a real-world community.
