    Description

Slightly tonic, with more active diuretic and astringent properties. Useful in diarrhea, and in dropsical affections. It seems to act more particularly on the uterus, and the urinary organs, and is prescribed for uterine hemorrhage, strangury, dysuria of children, and in many nephritic affections. It owes its virtue to the volatile oil it contains. -- from Parke, Davis & Co. Organic Materia Medica. Detroit, MI: Parke, Davis & Company; 1888., p. 79.
