Description
The Coin of Cos– a tiny island in the Aegean Sea– was struck sometime about 350 B.C. It was here that Hippocrates—the “Father of Medicine” - was born in 460 B.C. While very little is known about his life history, tradition tells us he began his pursuit of medicine at the Asclepieion Temple of Cos. While modern scholars seriously doubt he actually wrote the so-called “Oath of Hippocrates,” it certainly embodies many of his princples and precepts. - adapted from written description.
