Faith 7 Splashdown with Pilot Gordon Cooper
Keywords
Aeronautics, Faith 7, Gordon Cooper, John F. Kennedy Space Center, NASA
Photo Description
Pilot's grin greets personnel who gathered around "Faith 7" after the hatch was blown aboard the carrier Kearsarge southeast of Midway Island in the Pacific. Gordon Cooper remained in his spacecraft "Faith 7" while it was hoisted aboard the carrier, just as Astronaut Walter M. Schirra did following MA-8. Cooper's craft splashed down an even 7,000 yards from the Kearsarge, even closer than Schirra's near bullseye splashdown last October 3.
