Abstract
Bimetallic alloys, such as iron nickel (FeNi), iron palladium (FePd), and magnesium palladium (MgPd) provide in situ catalyst system fo remediating and degrading nitro and peroxide explosive compounds. Specifically, 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT), cyclo-1,3,5-trimethylene-2,4,6-trinitramine RDX), triacetone triperoxide (TATP), nitrocellulose and nitroglycerine which are contaminants in ground water, soil, and other structures can be treated on site to remediate explosive contamination.
