Abstract
Simple Tourniquet Application Trainer (STAT) was a proposed haptic device that would allow students to practice tourniquet application and provide realistic torque (pressure) needed in applying a tourniquet to an arm or leg in order to control arterial bleeding. This design has become a Extremities - Multiple Application Trainer (E - MAT) in that it can be used to asses compression bandages, check the pulse condition to administer intravenous fluids and start an actual IV port and tourniquet application of three basic body types; petite, average, and large. This design will incorporate several key pieces of hardware that can discern different pressures and their location, positioning of the arm in 3D space, wireless (tetherless) communication, simulated blood flow (4 wounded sites), tactile pulse and synthetic veins for intravenous inclusion. The physical model on this device is similar to real physiology in that it has an inner support structure acting as the bone makeup to house the
