Abstract
In contrast to commercially available drum machines that produce static drum patterns, the NEAT Drum framework seeks to create an environment where a common user can evolve non-trivial, complex, but pleasing drum patterns. The notion of evolving music is extremely novel in a commercial sector. In the references section of this document we will point out several authors who have explored the possibility of evolving music or drum patterns. Our implementation of this concept is most promising since the evolution process is governed by a human user. Even in early generations of evolution, one can find non-trivial drum patters that are usable.
