Abstract

Letter dated June 19, 1677 (June 9, 1677 Old Style) from James Harrison to his wife, Ann Harrison, primarily concerning business matters. These matters include a sum lent to James Hoult, brother of John Hoult.

deare [dear] wife speak to Margery Longworth & [and] see if shee [she] will lett [let]
those pillows 20 yeards [yards] ^com [come]^ Long, as I bad [bade] her yt [that] is 2 packs of woll [wool] & [and] a
halfe [half] & [and] ten pounds of money for 50 ends & [and] she shall have that
which is right good, if shee [she] will not send them, as she Pfered [preferred – fancy P]
yt [that] is for 2 packs of woll [wool] ye [the] rest out in money ye [the] pack of goods is
com [come] but they were sent to holt [John Hoult] as they said, & [and] sence [since] I have not
Lookt [looked] after them, if John Hoult be at towne [town] tell him yt [that] his
brother James [James Hoult] have [has] taken up ten shillings more, then the 15s [shillings]
pd [paid] by my order soe [so] if hee [he] or his father will give it thee [to you] I shall
pay it here, it was Lent [to] him because of his weaknes [weakness] I have not
seene [seen] him he told the friend hee [he] wrought [wrote/worked?] in Southwark if the
barmilians [a kind of fustian goods] of J: Laythwits [James Laithwaite?] be comit [committed/come], send them with the [obscured by wax seal: pil…] [pillows?]
& [and] I shall see after them according to thy [your] advice, T: Janney [Thomas Janney] is this
day gon [gone] out of towne [town] Jer: Owen [Jeremiah Owen?] & [and] others I am indefrent [indifferent] well, all
things relating to truth is very well a most powerfull [powerful] meeting & [and] meet
