Abstract
Letter dated December 16, 1697 (December 6, 1697 Old Style) from Abigail Pemberton to her father, Phineas Pemberton. The letter discusses an illness that has visited Abigail and Israel Pemberton, and a treatment provided by Robert Hoskins.

Honered [Honored] father having this oppertunity [opportunity] of sending thee [you] A few lines
by wilian biles [William Biles] I was wiling [willing] to let thee [you] understand that the lord hath [has]
been pleased to visit us with A sore paine [pain] in ouer [our] side and brest [breast]
Israesl [Israel Pemberton] night [nigh] unto death but I was not so v^i^lant [violent] as Israel and in that
conditison [condition] I was forst [forced] to wach [watch] with Israel wone [one] night Robert
Hoskings [Robert Hoskins] said that hit [it] was A plurisi [pleurisy] and he gave him A swet [sweat]
which gave him present ease but weri [very] wake [weak] I tooke [took] somthing [something] from
RP [Rachel Preston?] which was weri [very] benifisiasl [beneficial] but prased [praised] bee [be] the Lord [scratched out: ink smear] wee [we] are prit [end of page: pretty]
well over it I thought the time long that I have not hard [heard] from
the [thee] [you] in heast [haste] I must conclude thy [your] [page tear: dutifull] [dutiful] doughter [daughter]
