Copy of a letter dated July 15, 1687 (July 5, 1687 Old Style) from Patrick Robinson to Phineas Pemberton. Written at the bottom of the letter are remarks from Phineas Pemberton.

mr pemberton

The Enclosed to Tho Langhorn [Thomas Langhorn] and James Read
haveing [having] Com’n [come in] to hand I Entreate [entreat] deliver the one
is my Cuntry man [countryman] the other never wronged me
the third is for your self [yourself] were it not for
the sake of the governer [governor] from whom I belve [believe]
it is, I Shold [should] not be so Carefull [careful] of it for you
are one of those that have unjustly wounded
me but god will wound your rough & [and] heavy
scalps in due time vengenc [vengeance] is gods [god’s] he will
repay thy soure [sour] face thy [your] demure Countenanc [countenance]
thy [your] saint like looks thy [your] heavy hand may be
discovered in theire [their] due time for my self [myself]
I scorn your reproacses [reproaches] and am Invulvernable
by such & [and] the worst wished you is amendmt [amendment]

I returned no answer looking upon it A distracted
blast only to let thee [you] see how he shews [shows] his
teeth agt [against] ^me^ meerly [merely] on Imagination wth out [without]
any Cause for both in publique [public] and private [strikethrough]
I have shewed [shown] respect to him for his parts
sake while he kept wth in [within] any limits of
civility
