Philad [Philadelphia] 22th 4 mth [month] 1697
ffrd [friend] Phineas Pemberton
My wife telle [tell] me thou [you] has some Inclinacion [inclination]
to come to Town and wouldst [would] know wth [with] rent
I would have for part of my house I can
make thee [you] no other auswer [answer] than that thou [you]
shalle [shall] welcom [welcome] to me at any rate and if thou [you]
insiste [insist] upon more Certainty toe [to] will either come (as
S: Richardson [Samuel Richardson] has proposed) to a quantum meruit
when thou [you] sees the Conveniency or to what lay
thou [you] will only thy [your] Company I desire and
price shall not break up off Let we hear
from thee [you] as soon as thou [you] has opportunity
and I will get the house clear for thee [you]
I got G: Owen [Griffith Owen] for thy [your] neighbour [neighbor] in
the Layn [lane] too adjoyning [adjoining] to my Closet, wee [we] are
in great hurry [crossed out] the privateers who broke
prison & [and] are gone; Charles Goss was stabbed
last night by a frenchman who fled for
the murther [murder] I am in great hast [haste]
and have scarce tyme [time] to subscribe & [and]
inclose [enclose] these few nonsinsical [nonsensical] lines
