Title
Industry-University Collaboration: A Board Of Advisors.
Abstract
It is argued that creating an industry board of advisors for a university technical writing program is beneficial to both industry and education. Members of this board of advisors, made up of technical writers and managers of technical writing groups, are involved in course and program development, act as adjunct instructors, lecture to various classes, create and supervise internships, and help solve problems as they arise in the ongoing development of the program. The university provides students who are prepared to fill technical writing positions, leads training and refresher courses, and presents seminars for the changing, growing profession of technical writing.
