Title
Effect Of Time-Base Of Data On The Feasibility Of Cogeneration In An Industrial Plant.
Abstract
There has been a growing interest in cogeneration as an energy conservation technique. The feasibility, and therefore, the adaptation of cogeneration is greatly affected by the matching of plant demand for both steam and electricity with their production. The importance of matching between demand and production of energy becomes more evident as the time base of demand data decreases. To analyze the impact of cogeneration on a small manufacturing facility a computer model was developed. This model also accounts for effect of time base of data on the feasibility and operating characteristics of the proposed system. The model uses as its input, actual hourly demand data obtained from the manufacturing plant. For comparison, simulation runs were made using daily, weekly, and monthly averages calculated from actual hourly data to determine their effect on the feasibility of cogeneration.
