Title
Algorithm For Q-Factor Measurements Using A Network Analyzer.
Abstract
An algorithm has been developed for an HP network analyzer that can determine the resonant frequency f//0 , the unloaded Q-factor Q//0 , and the coupling coefficient beta , for microwave cavities. The input reflection coefficient measured by the network analyzer is sampled within a frequency range. The Bessel and Stirling formulas along with the central difference interpolation method are used to find the input reflection coefficient at any other desired frequency which lies between the sampled points. From this Q//0 , f//0 , and beta can be determined. Experimental and theoretical results are compared for various microwave cavities, analyzed, and discussed.
