Title
Two-Photon Absorption And Free-Carrier Absorption In Semiconductor-Doped Glasses.
Abstract
Several nonlinear optical properties of semiconductor-doped glasses have been studied. In particular, the nonlinearities associated with the saturation of interband absorption and of exciton absorption have been investigated at extremely high input irradiance levels where saturation is nearly complete. Using 30-ps FWHM 0.53-μm pulses incident on Corning CS-368 CdSSe-doped glass, the authors monitored the transmission over five orders of magnitude input up to 32 GW/cm 2. In a separate series of experiments using 1.06-μm picosecond pulses, two-photon absorption was measured (2PA) in these doped glasses. The experimental results are presented and discussed.
