Title
Selling Engineering And Science To Pre-Highschoolers: A Success Story From A Low Income Neighborhood School
Abstract
A program designed to interest primary-school-age children in a career in science and engineering is described. The program was successfully conducted at a predominantly black elementary school located in a housing project in Orlando, Florida. It is felt that programs of this nature can be a successful vehicle for recruitment of minorities into the engineering and science professions and hence contribute to alleviating the projected shortage of engineering and scientific personnel.
