Title
Test And Evaluation Of Vaccine Refrigeration Systems
Abstract
Results are presented from side-by-side tests of three PV-powered refrigeration systems and one kerosene unit. Refrigerator temperature stability, daily energy requirements, ice production capability, and system reliability are discussed. The PV-powered refrigeration systems show that the vapor-compression refrigerants are reliable and consistently maintain vaccine temperatures within the prescribed 0-8°C range with no user intervention. Results also show that the ammonia-water refrigeration cycle of the kerosene refrigerator works well and has the coldest freezer temperatures.
