Title
Using Visual Programming To Construct An Information Retrieval Tool For Student Advising
Abstract
The advising of students on their course enrollment for a coming term is a regular and continuing problem at all levels of the academic world. It is also an example of the type of basic information retrieval and management problem which new microcomputer-based information technologies are designed to solve. In this case study report we describe the use of visual programming (programming through the selection and placement of iconic elements on the screen) and the personal computer to build a computer program which helps students develop their course schedules.
