Title

The Role Of Theme Parks As A Leisure Activity For Local Communities

Abstract

The article investigates residents' attitudes toward and participation patterns in local theme parks as a leisure activity. Data from 250 Central Florida residents reveal that although residents' frequency and intentions to visit the local theme parks may not be attributed to their available free time or admission price consciousness, some relationships were found between intentions to visit the local theme parks and residents' perceived avail able time, as well as their perception of theme park visitation as a leisure activity, in particular an “unconditional leisure” activity. © 1991, Sage Publications.
