Title

A Modified-Twiss-Parameter Optical Treatment For Space-Charge-Dominated Electrostatic-Accelerator Free Electron Lasers

Abstract

The design of electrostatic-accelerator free electron lasers requires an optical treatment of the accelerating electron beam that includes the effects of finite emittance, space charge and acceleration. Use of a canonical transformation allows the problem to be treated in a new coordinate system where the Twiss parametrization of Courant and Snyder may be employed. © 1990.
