Title

On Fluid Dynamic Drag Reduction In Some Boundary Layer Flows

Abstract

The problem of boundary layer flow on a flat plate with injection and a constant velocity opposite in direction to that of the uniform mainstream is analyzed. It is shown that the solution of this boundary layer problem not only depends on the ratio of the velocity of the plate to the velocity of the free stream (λ), but also on the injection velocity parameter (C). It is also shown that there exists a range of values of λ and C for which the differential equations associated with the boundary layer problems admit analytic solutions. The critical values of λ and C are obtained numerically and their significance in drag reduction is discussed. © 1990 Springer-Verlag.
