Nonlinear Electrostatic Drift Waves: Higher-Order Structures
Abstract
In this paper we will show that the Hasegawa-Mima equation (which governs the electrostatic drift waves in an inhomogeneous plasma) can possess generalized solitary-wave type solutions even when both the quadratic and cubic nonlinearities are included. Further, the Hasegawa-Mima equation is also shown to possess a double-layer type solution when both the quadratic and cubic nonlinearities are included provided a certain condition is satisfied. © 1990.
