Title
2-(N-(L)-Prolinol-5-Nitropyridine)- Pnp: Solution Growth Of A New Nonlinear Optical Material For Shg In Bulk
Abstract
Large single crystals of PNP have been grown by two solution growth methods. By a temperature difference technique, seed crystals were obtained by spontaneous nucleation. Subsequent seed growth by a temperature lowering technique yielded PNP crystals of regular habit and sizes up to 10× 10 × 15 mm3 from water-ethanol mixtures. Solubility measurements showed that in the presence of equimolar amounts of PNP and Nd3+ the solubility of PNP was enhanced. The optical and nonlinear properties were investigated. The two major nonlinear optical susceptibilities were determined (dyxx = 48 pm V, dyyy = 17 pm V). © 1990.
