Title
Optimizing Scanning Mirror System Performance Using Solid State Piezoelectric Actuators
Abstract
Dual-coupling bimorph electromechanical coupling was used to maximize the amount of angular deflection possible with an applied field. Rate feedback provided resonance damping. Position feedback provided increased bandwidth and decreased hysteresis. A prototype system, including the actuator and feedback mechanism, was developed. Its performance compares favorably with its model; it is capable of ±5° of angular deflection with a bandwidth of 300 Hz.
