Title
A Statistical Approach For Calculating The Concatenated Connector Loss In Fiber‐Optic Links
Keywords
concatenated connector loss; Fiber‐optic link loss; probability density function for connector loss; short‐haul fiber‐optic link loss
Abstract
The insertion loss contribution of concatenated connectors in fiber‐optic links is analyzed. A statistical approach based on the loss distribution of single connectors with a method for numerical convolution is developed. The predicted insertion loss is less than the sum of the “worst case” connector loss values. An avionics short‐haul fiber‐optic example illustrates the new approach.
