Title
Growing Body Of Evidence Refutes Some Criticisms Of Journalism Schools
Abstract
Professionals in the newspaper industry continue to criticize the journalism schools that train 80% of their new colleagues. Typically, professionals criticize journalism schools' courses, students, faculty members and emphasis on PhD's and research. Faculty members, in turn, lash back at their critics. After years of debate, everyone can move beyond its generalities, charges and counter-charges. A growing body of evidence reveals that several - but not all - of the professionals' criticisms are mistaken. © 1995, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
