Title
Demonstration Of All-Optical Switching Based On Spatial Soliton Dragging
Abstract
Interactions in the spatial domain between two spatial solitons such as dragging and trapping are analogous to temporal soliton dragging and trapping experiments previously reported in fibers where they were used to obtain ultrafast all-optical switching. In the spatial case, the dragging occurs when initially overlapped spatial solitons having different transverse propagation directions are launched together. This results in the lateral shift of both beams by the index potential created by the soliton pair. This paper reports the demonstration of all-optical switching based on the mutual dragging of two spatial solitons. For higher peak powers, or a longer sample, a larger switching contrast from soliton dragging should be possible.
