Title
High-Performance Liquid-Based Passive Optical Limiter
Abstract
Optical limiters based on several nonlinear optical elements in tandem have been the subject of several theoretical and experimental studies in recent years. The primary reason for such a geometry is that it exposes the nonlinear material to high fluence, hence producing a large nonlinear effect, without damage occurring to the nonlinear material. Previous experimental studies have successfully proven the principle of tandem limiting. This paper describes in detail the design considerations for such a device, and discuss design parameters and materials requirements for improved limiters.
