Title
Periodic Surface Structures Accompanying Optical Breakdown Of Transparent Insulators
Abstract
This paper discusses the causes of the formation of regular microscopic relief on the output surfaces of alkali halide plates under the action of pulses of laser radiation in the near- and mid-IR ranges. The theoretical treatment carried out in the paper showed that the most probable mechanism for destroying the surface in the form of a regular microscopic relief is a waveguide mechanism. © 1996 The Optical Society of America.
