Title

A Laboratory Simulation Software Combination For Electrical Engineering Technology Dc/Ac Courses

Abstract

This paper presents a practical way to introduce computer usage into introductory electrical engineering technology courses. Although TAC/ABET encourages computer usage in undergraduate electrical engineering technology classes, very few programs use the computer in the beginning circuits courses due to the amount of material that the student is already required to learn. It is shown here that using the Electronics Workbench software package for the DC circuits course and MICRO-CAP IV for the AC circuits course is easily included in this circuits sequence and enhances student learning. An added plus to using these programs is that labs can be simulated and supplemented using this software.
