Title
Intracavity gain and absorption dynamics of hybrid modelocked semiconductor lasers using excitonic nonlinearity
Abstract
The results describing the intracavity gain dynamics and pulse shaping mechanisms associated with hybrid modelocked semiconductor lasers has been presented. Owing to the long intracavity pulsewidth, self-phase modulation in the gain medium related to gain depletion imposes a parabolic chirp on the optical pulse. The removal of the front edge of the pulse by the saturable absorber contributes to the linearization of the chirp resulting in a pulse that is highly compressible.
