Data compression using text encryption
Abstract
The use of a new algorithm to preprocess test in order to improve the compression ratio of textual documents, in particular online documents such as web pages on the World Wide Web is discussed. The applicability of this algorithm in Internet and Intranet environments is also discussed, and additional performance measurements regarding compression ratios, memory requirements and run time are presented. The results show that the preprocessing usually leads to a significantly improved compression ratio.
