Abstract
This article provides an overview of the medication issues and concerns that social workers will encounter in practice Special emphasis is placed on the role of the social worker in regard to new trends in the field. Knowledge regarding medication use and misuse is highlighted. The intent is to provide social work professionals with a basic knowledge of medication-prescribing considerations to assist with assuming a client broker and advocate stance for the clients served. © 1998, Sage Publications.
