Title
Extended family of type II quadratic solitons excited by fundamental waves of unequal energy
Abstract
The soliton threshold and the equilibrium composition of the quadratic spatial solitons is studied for conditions of different phase matching and energy in the two input fundamental beams. The material studied was a KTP crystal cut for phase matching with an o-wave and e-wave fundamental input. The pulse threshold energy was measured on phase matching as a function of the fraction of the input beam that was e polarized. It is shown that the family of type II quadratic solitons does not require a strong second-harmonic beam, and has continuous ratio between the energies of the two orthogonally polarized fundamental waves.
