Title
Waveguide writing in chalcogenide glasses by train of femtosecond laser pulses
Abstract
Writing of uniform and permanent optical waveguides in the bulk of chalcogenide glasses by a train of femtosecond laser pulses from a cw Kerr-lens mode-locked, Ti:sapphire laser was carried out. Samples of high-purity As2S3 chalcogenide glass were used. To record the waveguides, the samples were moved along the optical axis. A circular cross-section uniform channel was formed in the bulk of the glass samples. The channels were found to guide He-Ne light at 632 nm over distances exceeding the 5-mm sample lengths.
