Title
Spatial chirping of wavevector mismatch in LiNbO3 segmented waveguides for engineering of specific second-harmonic generation detuning curves for cascading applications
Abstract
An investigation was conducted to study the low depletion second-harmonic generation (SHG) response of an engineered, nonuniform wavevector distribution along the propagation axis. The specific variation in the wavevector mismatch was achieved by a nonuniform chirp in the grating period of a LiNbO3 segmented waveguide. Uniform waveguides were also fabricated and their SHG response measured for comparison. A broadening was observed in the bandwidth of the SHG detuning curve relative to the uniform grating case and a complicated dependence of SHG on wavelength. In addition, all the wave-vector distributions studied exhibited some amount of nonreciprocity. As shown previously, this is a direct consequence of using simultaneously a nonuniform and nonsymmetrical wave-vector distribution.
