Title
Effect of mode detuning on self-pulsation of two-section DFB lasers
Abstract
The structure and/or the bias currents for the two sections of a two-section distributed feedback (DFB) laser are different under self-pulsing conditions. The differences in the wavenumber detunings were calculated based on the bias-current-induced wavelength shift and the bias currents. This detuning difference affects the dynamics of the two-section DFB lasers in the same manner as the static difference in the Bragg grating periods. The set of coupled partial differential equations which govern the dynamics of the two-section DFB laser is presented.
