Title
Examination of age related performance differences on a complex object manipulation task in a virtual environment
Abstract
The ability of younger participants to perform visual motor tasks in a virtual environment was compared to that of older participants. One task from the Virtual Environment Performance Assessment Battery (VEPAB) was used for the study. Overall, the younger participants performed significantly better than elderly participants. A relatively good and stable performance was also recorded on the object manipulation task by the younger males. Results suggest that virtual environments may be a viable training alternative given ample practice and experience.
