Abstract
We investigate the effects of the relaxation of wave vector conservation due to broken translational symmetry on the anharmonic decay process. The relaxation of momentum conservation in the vicinity of a defect site is considered and its implications in various experimental methods of investigation are discussed. © 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
