Title
Improving Raid Performance Using A Multibuffer Technique
Abstract
Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) offers high performance for read accesses and large writes to many consecutive blocks. However on small writes, it entails large penalties. To correct this problem, a new scheme called Multibuffering has been evaluated. Simulation studies have been performed to compare the performance of Multibuffering with those of Dynamic Parity Stripe Reorganization (DPSR) and standard RAID5. The simulation results convincingly indicate that Multibuffering is very robust.
