Title
Predictive Channel Reservation For Mobile Cellular Networks Based On Gps Measurements
Abstract
In this paper, we present a predictive channel reservation scheme based on extrapolating the movement of mobile stations using GPS measurements. The scheme is applicable to both fixed and dynamic channel allocation methods. The simulation results showed that the predictive scheme improves the blocking rates for handoff requests while not significantly reducing the admission rate of new calls. The paper presents the basic idea and important parameters used in the scheme along with simulation results under various traffic conditions and general type of mobility.
