Title
All-Optical Switching In Ktp With Second Order Nonlinearities
Abstract
Experimental results demonstrate the potential of all-optical switching using χ(2) nonlinearities. The switching irradiance scales as [χ(2)]-2, so that new organic crystals with χ(2) more than ten times that of KTP will significantly reduce switching irradiances. In addition, waveguide geometries will lead to further reductions in the switching irradiance. Considered here is an arrangement where an input 2ω wave having a phase, Δφ, with respect to the fundamental are both weakly focused into a KTP crystal.
