Title
Novel Modelocked Semiconductor Lasers For Networking, Instrumentation And Signal Processing
Abstract
Novel modelocked semiconductor lasers are proposed for high speed data links and signal processing technologies. The unique feature of this laser is that it employs an intracavity Fabry-Perot etalon operating on antiresonance, with a free spectral range equal to the gain bandwidth of the semiconductor laser chip. The cumulative effect of this mode of operation is to flatten the gain spectrum and reduce detrimental effects of gain narrowing in the modelocking process. The resulting autocorrelation trace show a deconvolved pulse duration of 225 fsec, within 10% of the transform limit.
