Title
Intracavity Difference Frequency Generation
Abstract
Experiments in which infrared input mixed with a neodymium laser intracavity field yielding difference frequency generation (DFG) in the mid infrared region were discussed. The different parameters in the experiment included KTP, bulk crystals and AGS. Results showed that DFG in KTP was limited to wavelengths between 2.5 and 2.95 μm. On the other hand, DFG in bulk crystals proved to be futile outside of the research laboratory due to drawbacks in this system. However, intracavity mixing using AGS seemed to have a more favorable outcome. Although there were minor disadvantages, DFG in AGS provided extremely high nonlinearity and broad propagation and phasematching windows.
