Title
Florida residential air-conditioning sizing survey results
Abstract
This study reports results from an air-conditioning contractor survey of residential air-conditioning sizing methods in Florida. Results indicate that 33% of the respondents use the Manual J procedure, 34.4% use software, 24.2% use square footage, and 8.4% use other estimates. A room-by-room method of sizing is used by 52%. Some 38.5% say they have purposely oversized units, and 63.6% indicated they would use a split central unit smaller than 15,000 Btu/h if available.
