Title
Rapid Prototyping Through Reverse Engineering
Abstract
The rapid prototyping cycle involves the replication of an object or a scaled version of the object. The reverse engineering process involves obtaining the 3D data of the object which can be used to create a model of the object. The paper describes a non-contact laser-based system for capturing the geometric details of the object. This data can be used to accurately define the object, modify the existing design, manufacture a replica of the object or a scaled version of the object.
